11 DAYS / 10 NIGHTS · PRIVATE TOUR · NO SHOPPING
Beijing, then Jiangnan by train; no domestic flights
For a pair in twin rooms, our 11-day Beijing–Hangzhou–Suzhou–Shanghai private route starts at USD 2,690 each; international flights are extra. There are no domestic flights. The longer Beijing-to-Hangzhou train day buys a slower stretch around West Lake, Suzhou’s gardens and a canal town.

The shape of the journey
Ten hotel nights include breakfast. Local private guides and vehicles on touring days, transfers, named tickets, a West Lake boat and two second-class train journeys are included. This route stays in eastern China after Beijing and skips Xi’an.
Day by day
Arrival, core touring and departure are shown day by day. Opening hours, named-entry tickets and local conditions may change the order. If anything important needs to change, we discuss it with you.
At the confirmed Beijing airport or station, your driver takes you straight to the hotel. We leave the first day clear after a long flight; sightseeing begins when you have slept.

The guide takes you through the Tiananmen area and into the Forbidden City with the ticket issued for your date. The museum closes on Mondays, so we set the Beijing day order after the reservation is confirmed.

The drive to Mutianyu takes about 90 minutes. A cable car or chairlift is included one way, leaving you to walk the restored wall at your pace. The toboggan is an extra.

Morning is a good time for the Temple of Heaven: local residents are often exercising in the park. Then walk by the Summer Palace lake. We check seasonal boat operation on the day.

The booked second-class train from Beijing to Hangzhou takes about 4.5–6.5 hours. A Hangzhou driver takes you to the hotel; if you want a walk after sitting all day, West Lake is free time in the evening.

Spend the Hangzhou day on West Lake: take a boat and walk part of the Su Causeway. Later, drink tea in a hillside Longjing village, or replace that stop with Lingyin Temple if a visit slot is available. Stay in Hangzhou.

The train to Suzhou takes roughly 40 minutes to 1.5 hours. See one garden, such as the Humble Administrator’s Garden, then walk Pingjiang Road toward evening. Stay in Suzhou.

Stop at Tongli or another confirmed water town to walk beside the canals and old houses. Shanghai is about 1.5 hours farther by car; the Bund is free for you to visit that evening.

Start at Yu Garden and the old city with the guide. At the Bund, look across the river from the 1920s bank buildings to Pudong’s towers.

The guide walks you through an old French Concession neighbourhood in the morning. The afternoon is yours: a museum, some independent shopping or time to pack.

Your driver takes you to the confirmed Shanghai airport or station. We leave the departure day free of sightseeing.

Travel made seamless
Your hotel level, guided days, transfers, route transport and principal admissions are planned together. We check availability for your dates before payment.
We use breakfast-included twin rooms at the four-star standard (4 diamonds on Trip.com/Ctrip) for all 10 nights: Beijing 4, Hangzhou 2, Suzhou 1 and Shanghai 3. The exact hotels and rooms are confirmed before payment.
Each touring city has an English-speaking local guide and vehicle for your party. We include all transfers and named first entries, among them the West Lake boat, one Suzhou garden and the water town. Beijing–Hangzhou and Hangzhou–Suzhou trains are second class; a private vehicle takes you from Suzhou to Shanghai. Guides change by city and drivers meet each end of a train day. Korean-speaking guides cost the same where available.
The 11-day Beijing–Hangzhou–Suzhou–Shanghai private route costs USD 2,690 each for two in a twin room, USD 5,380 for the pair. Four pay USD 2,290 each and six USD 2,140. The 11-day Beijing–Hangzhou–Suzhou–Shanghai tour stays in the east after Beijing and uses trains instead of domestic flights. That leaves time for West Lake, a Suzhou garden and a canal town. If you want the Terracotta Warriors, the 10-day route includes Xi’an from USD 2,990 per person for two sharing a twin room; the 14-day routes also include Xi’an.
For the 11-day Beijing–Hangzhou–Suzhou–Shanghai train route, look at April–May or September–November. Hangzhou and Suzhou enter the rainy season in June, and July–August is hot and humid.
