After Hengqin immigration: how to use the LRT
On the Macau side, follow signs to the LRT Hengqin station. Take the Hengqin Line to Lotus, then change to the Taipa Line for the station nearest your hotel or first stop. Save that final station and the walk to your destination; reaching Lotus does not finish the hotel transfer. Compare this with a confirmed hotel pickup or taxi if several suitcases make another change awkward.
Buying a ticket with a payment app is different from using a ride code at the gate. The LRT operator's ticket guide, checked on 8 September 2026, lists single-journey tokens sold at machines or service counters. Counters accept several payment methods, including cards, Alipay and WeChat Pay; ticket machines accept cash and LRT Cards. A day trip from Guangzhou: plan the return first
Choose your last Macau stop before booking the return train. A Cotai-first, peninsula-last day can make Hengqin entry and Gongbei exit worth comparing; finishing in Cotai may favour returning through Hengqin. After Gongbei, search return trains from Zhuhai (珠海站); after Hengqin, search from Hengqin (横琴站). Leave time to reach the port, clear immigration and board the train. A cheap outbound journey does not solve an awkward return.
With children, older travellers or a late start, choose the peninsula or Cotai as the main outing and keep the other optional. Indoor breaks can help in hot weather, but changing districts still uses time.
