Swap the panda stop for Zhangjiajie’s long walking days
Two travelling together pay from USD 3,890 each, twin share, on the 14-day Beijing–Xi’an–Zhangjiajie–Guilin–Shanghai private route; international flights are extra. Zhangjiajie gets three nights, but the direct train from there to Guilin takes about seven hours. Plan on a full travel day.

The shape of the journey
Breakfast is included on all 13 hotel nights. The price covers local private guides and vehicles on touring days, transfers, named tickets including Tianmen Mountain, two trains and two economy flights. In Zhangjiajie, allow several hours on paths and steps even with the elevator and cable car.
Day by day
Arrival, core touring and departure are shown day by day. Opening hours, named-entry tickets and local conditions may change the order. If anything important needs to change, we discuss it with you.
At the confirmed Beijing airport or station, your driver takes you straight to the hotel. We leave the first day clear after a long flight; sightseeing begins when you have slept.

The guide takes you through the Tiananmen area and into the Forbidden City with the ticket issued for your date. The museum closes on Mondays, so we set the Beijing day order after the reservation is confirmed.

The drive to Mutianyu takes about 90 minutes. A cable car or chairlift is included one way, leaving you to walk the restored wall at your pace. The toboggan is an extra.

The confirmed second-class train to Xi’an takes about 4.5–6 hours. A driver takes you to the Beijing station and another meets you in Xi’an; leave the evening free after the crossing.

Do not rush the Terracotta Warriors: the guide has the morning and early afternoon there. Return to Xi’an for the City Wall when the light softens; you can walk or cycle it. The Muslim Quarter is free time in the evening.

The economy flight from Xi’an to Zhangjiajie takes about 1.5 hours. From the airport, go straight to the hotel near the Wulingyuan park gates. Sightseeing starts the next day.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park takes a full day. The guide links Yuanjiajie’s sandstone pillars, the Bailong Elevator and part of Golden Whip Stream; the order changes with the weather and the queues.

Tianmen Mountain starts from Zhangjiajie city. Up top are the cliff-side walkways and Tianmen Cave; whether the cable car comes before or after the mountain road depends on the ticket route issued for that date.

The direct Zhangjiajie–Guilin high-speed train takes about seven hours. This is almost entirely a travel day; a Guilin driver meets the train and takes you to the hotel for the night.

The Li River boat takes about four hours from the pier to Yangshuo, between the karst peaks. Your main bags travel separately by road, so keep what you need on the boat with you. The rest of the Yangshuo day is free.

If the water level and operator allow, ride a bamboo raft on the booked stretch of the Yulong River. Afterward, see the countryside by bike or vehicle without a fixed walking target. Stay in Yangshuo.

First drive about 1.5 hours to Guilin airport, then take the confirmed economy flight to Shanghai, about two hours. A Shanghai driver meets you. If you still have energy, the Bund is lit after dark.

Decide before booking how to spend the day. Stay in Shanghai with a guide for the Bund, Yu Garden and an old French Concession neighbourhood, or take the high-speed train to Suzhou for one garden and Pingjiang Road.

Your driver takes you to the confirmed Shanghai airport or station. We leave the departure day free of sightseeing.

Travel made seamless
Your hotel level, guided days, transfers, route transport and principal admissions are planned together. We check availability for your dates before payment.
The 13 hotel nights include breakfast and use twin rooms at the four-star standard (4 diamonds on Trip.com/Ctrip). Sleep in Beijing 3 nights, Xi’an 2, Wulingyuan 2, Zhangjiajie city 1, Guilin 1, Yangshuo 2 and Shanghai 2. We confirm each hotel name and room type before payment.
On touring days, only your party uses the English-speaking local guide and vehicle. The price covers transfers and named first entries, including Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, the Bailong Elevator and Tianmen Mountain cable car. It also covers the Li River cruise with separate luggage transfer, one Yulong River raft, the second-class Beijing–Xi’an train, economy flights Xi’an–Zhangjiajie and Guilin–Shanghai, and the direct Zhangjiajie–Guilin train. Guides change with the city; one driver sees you off and another meets you after a train or flight. Korean-speaking guides are the same price where available.
The 14-day Beijing–Xi’an–Zhangjiajie–Guilin–Shanghai private route is USD 3,890 each for two sharing a twin room, USD 7,780 for the pair. With four it is USD 3,290 each; with six, USD 3,090. That pays for 13 breakfasts and hotel nights, private local guides and vehicles on touring days, Forest Park and Tianmen Mountain tickets, two trains and two domestic flights. International flights and lunches and dinners are separate. If eight or more go together, the own-date small-group price is USD 2,790 each. We quote other party sizes in writing.
The Beijing–Xi’an–Zhangjiajie–Guilin–Shanghai route is the same in both versions. Two on a private departure pay from USD 3,890 each and choose their dates, pace and some stops. The 2027 small group is USD 2,790 each on 17 April or 16 October, with 8–12 guests following one plan.
On the 14-day Beijing–Xi’an–Zhangjiajie–Guilin–Shanghai route, choose Zhangjiajie if you would rather spend two walking days among sandstone peaks than visit Chengdu’s pandas. To include both, the 21-day private route adds Chengdu and a three-night Yangtze cruise, from USD 5,890 per person for two.
On the 14-day Zhangjiajie and Guilin route, allow several hours of paths and stairs on each Zhangjiajie touring day. The Bailong Elevator and cable cars take out the steepest climbs, but not the walking. Tell us about mobility limits before we choose the viewpoints.
For the 14-day Beijing–Xi’an–Zhangjiajie–Guilin–Shanghai route, look at April–May or September–October. Zhangjiajie often has mist around the pillars; it is part of the view, so a perfectly clear day is not guaranteed. The early-May and early-October Chinese holiday weeks bring heavier crowds.
Clear before payment
The listed starting price is per person at the stated group size, with two sharing a room. Once we agree on the route and dates, we ask for each traveller’s passport name, number, expiry date and date of birth before Forbidden City and Terracotta Warriors tickets go on sale. You receive the flights, trains, hotel choices and final total in writing before payment.
