The shape of the journey
Breakfast is included on all 13 hotel nights. Local private guides and vehicles on touring days, transfers, named tickets including the Huangshan cable cars, and the trains or flight between stops are included. The mountain walk is shortened if weather or mobility calls for it.
Day by day
Arrival, core touring and departure are shown day by day. Opening hours, named-entry tickets and local conditions may change the order. If anything important needs to change, we discuss it with you.
At the confirmed Beijing airport or station, your driver takes you straight to the hotel. We leave the first day clear after a long flight; sightseeing begins when you have slept.

The guide takes you through the Tiananmen area and into the Forbidden City with the ticket issued for your date. The museum closes on Mondays, so we set the Beijing day order after the reservation is confirmed.

The drive to Mutianyu takes about 90 minutes. A cable car or chairlift is included one way, leaving you to walk the restored wall at your pace. The toboggan is an extra.

The confirmed second-class train to Xi’an takes about 4.5–6 hours. A driver takes you to the Beijing station and another meets you in Xi’an; leave the evening free after the crossing.

Do not rush the Terracotta Warriors: the guide has the morning and early afternoon there. Return to Xi’an for the City Wall when the light softens; you can walk or cycle it. The Muslim Quarter is free time in the evening.

Allow most of the day to get from Xi’an to Huangshan: the booked high-speed train takes about 7–7.5 hours. A flight of about 2.5 hours runs roughly once a week and is an option only if dates fit. From Huangshan, drive another hour to Tangkou at the mountain foot and stay there.

The cable car takes you up Huangshan, but expect several hours on stone steps between Beginning-to-Believe Peak and Bright Summit. After the summit paths, ride down and sleep in Tangkou. We shorten the loop when weather or mobility requires it.

Before leaving Huangshan, walk Hongcun around its crescent pond and white-walled Huizhou houses. The booked train from Huangshan North then reaches Hangzhou in about 1.5–2 hours; stay there tonight.

Spend the Hangzhou day on West Lake: take a boat and walk part of the Su Causeway. Later, drink tea in a hillside Longjing village, or replace that stop with Lingyin Temple if a visit slot is available. Stay in Hangzhou.

The train to Suzhou takes roughly 40 minutes to 1.5 hours. See one garden, such as the Humble Administrator’s Garden, then walk Pingjiang Road toward evening. Stay in Suzhou.

Stop at Tongli or another confirmed water town to walk beside the canals and old houses. Shanghai is about 1.5 hours farther by car; the Bund is free for you to visit that evening.

Start at Yu Garden and the old city with the guide. At the Bund, look across the river from the 1920s bank buildings to Pudong’s towers.

The guide walks you through an old French Concession neighbourhood in the morning. The afternoon is yours: a museum, some independent shopping or time to pack.

Your driver takes you to the confirmed Shanghai airport or station. We leave the departure day free of sightseeing.

Travel made seamless
Your hotel level, guided days, transfers, route transport and principal admissions are planned together. We check availability for your dates before payment.
Thirteen breakfast hotel nights are in twin rooms at the four-star standard (4 diamonds on Trip.com/Ctrip): Beijing 3, Xi’an 2, Tangkou 2, Hangzhou 2, Suzhou 1 and Shanghai 3. Both Huangshan-area nights are at the mountain foot in Tangkou. We confirm the exact hotels and rooms before payment.
On touring days your party uses an English-speaking local guide and vehicle in each city. All transfers and named first entries are included: Huangshan with cable cars up and down, Hongcun, a West Lake boat and one Suzhou garden. Second-class trains cover Beijing–Xi’an, Huangshan North–Hangzhou and Hangzhou–Suzhou. Xi’an–Huangshan is by high-speed train, or economy flight when the weekly service fits your date. Guides change by city and drivers handle travel-day handovers. Korean-speaking guides cost the same where available.
On the 14-day Beijing–Xi’an–Huangshan–Hangzhou–Shanghai private tour, two sharing a twin room pay USD 3,790 each, USD 7,580 together. It is USD 3,190 each for four or USD 2,990 for six. The land price includes 13 breakfast hotel nights, city guides and vehicles on touring days, named tickets and Huangshan cable cars, plus the trains between stops. Xi’an to Huangshan can be by flight if the weekly service fits your date. Add international flights and lunches and dinners separately. We quote other party sizes in writing.
On the 14-day Beijing–Xi’an–Huangshan–Hangzhou–Shanghai route, the cable cars save the main climb, but the Huangshan summit loop still has several hours of stone steps. Active walkers usually manage it. If mobility is limited, we use shorter viewpoints near the cable-car stations.
A Huangshan summit night can be quoted for the 14-day Beijing–Xi’an–Huangshan–Hangzhou–Shanghai private tour. Summit hotels are simpler and cost more than Tangkou, and the main luggage stays below. We confirm the separate price before you book.
April–May and September–November are good windows for the 14-day Beijing–Xi’an–Huangshan–Hangzhou–Shanghai route. Huangshan’s mist is common even then. The mountain is especially crowded in the Chinese holiday weeks of early May and early October.
The 14-day Beijing–Xi’an–Huangshan–Hangzhou–Shanghai route replaces Chengdu and Guilin with Huangshan, Hongcun, West Lake and Suzhou. For two sharing a twin room it starts at USD 3,790 each, against USD 3,990 for the 14-day classic. Here the extra day goes to Huangshan and eastern gardens; the classic route spends that time on pandas and the Li River.
Clear before payment
The listed starting price is per person at the stated group size, with two sharing a room. Once we agree on the route and dates, we ask for each traveller’s passport name, number, expiry date and date of birth before Forbidden City and Terracotta Warriors tickets go on sale. You receive the flights, trains, hotel choices and final total in writing before payment.
